Monument Park can be found at the North end of Main Street. This park honors the Aaron Pierce
family, the first white settlers of Savanna. |

Sixth Street Park is the newest addition to the District. Through the efforts of KaBoom, Team Illinois, and over 150 community volunteers, a 4500 square foot playground was erected in 2003. This park also has a basketball court and picnicking facility. |

Helle Park is a two-block park located in a neighborhood on the East side of town. A recent face-lift created two new playground areas for ages 2-5 and ages 5-12, basketball court, a paved walking path, and parking. |

| The Savanna Park District offers recreational opportunities at the Savanna Marina, Indoor Swimming Pool, Marquette Park, Monument Park,
Helle Park, Old Mill Park, and Sixth Street Park. The District also offers a Summer Recreation Program and occasionally offers programs at other
times of the year. These programs and facilities are available to the residents of Savanna Township and the surrounding communities, as well as,
to visitors of Savanna. The Park District celebrating its 80th anniversary as a Park District in 2009. |

| The Park Board consists of five commissioners who are responsible for the operation and control of all Park District facilities and
programs. Current commissioners are: Dennis McFadden, Penny Kreusch, Bert Shaw, Burt Dauphin and Allen DeSpain. |

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
The Savanna Park District will comply with the law commonly known as the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
All requests for information must be submitted in writing to the Savanna Park District, 225 Bowen Street,
PO Box 329, Savanna, Illinois 61074. The request should state whether or not it is made for a commercial purpose.
All responses to any request will be provided within the time required under the Act.
The FOIA Officers are Barb High, Administrator, and Dennis McFadden, Park Board President. There were 3 full-time
and 18 part-time employees working for the District in 2009.
The District's mission statement is as follows: With dedicated people as our foundation, the Savanna Park District
board and staff will strive to exceed the public's expectations by delivering the best recreational offerings in the
most economical means possible.

The Savanna Swimming Pool
The Savanna Swimming Pool is attached to the West Carroll High School at 500B Cragmoor. The indoor pool consists of a 42' x 75' size pool and a wading pool.
Persons can enjoy looking at the port-hole wall murals inside. Locker rooms were renovated in 2004 to allow more people to use
this accessible facility. The pool offers times for open swim, lap swim and parties. Our WSI personnel offer both group and private lessons. There are
classes in water exercise.

Bike Trails in Savanna, Illinois
A great way to get some exercise, our scenic bike trails will let you exercise and enjoy the country ride as you go.
Old Mill Park is a Great Place to Relax or Play in Savanna

Old Mill Park is located on the northeast side of town featuring ball diamonds, tennis courts,
basketball court, playground equipment, concession stand, two restroom buildings (one newly built accessible), and shelter houses. There is also a
nature trail, walking trial, and plenty of green space for relaxing and picnicking.
Season. Old Mill Park is open from April 15 through October 31. It is open to walk-in traffic after October 31 during
the daylight hours. Persons who wish to walk or 'play' in the park may park at the front entrance near the Park Superintendent's home.

Baseball, Softball, and T-Ball. The Savanna Baseball and the Savanna Softball Associations are
responsible for scheduling all T-ball, baseball, and softball games and practices on the diamonds at Old Mill Park. The following is a list of diamond

RULES FOR RESERVING SHELTERS AT OLD MILL PARK
The Savanna Park District is pleased to allow groups to reserve the Shelter Houses at Old Mill Park. Currently there is NO CHARGE for bookings.
However, due to the amount of money invested in these shelters, any damage to a shelter will be assessed to the group booking the shelter. The Park
District asks that the groups be aware of the following:
1. We have had the shelters cleaned and reserved for your group. Because we have limited staff, sometimes you may need to do a little 'fine-tune'
cleaning for your group. Please pick up all litter and clean up after your group.
2. We also do not charge for electric at the shelters. There is 'electric service' provided at all shelters. Again this is for
your convenience in keeping foods warm.
3. You may reserve the shelter exactly one year in advance for your next year's reunion or get-together. Do not assume that your
group will automatically have the shelter reserved even if you have been coming for many, many years. We are not sure that every group will
reserve year-after-year; therefore, this is one consideration that must be made. We ask that you personally contact the Park Custodian (815/273-4549) and
make the reservation. The Reservation Book is kept at Old Mill Park . If you reach the Park's answering machine, please leave the following
information and ask that the Custodian return your call with a confirmation. This clears up any misunderstandings. If he does not hear from you,
he will assume that the shelter can be reserved for another group. If your group is small, please only reserve ½ of a shelter so that others can
enjoy the privilege.
